I’m John Robinson, and I’ma globally recognised leader in improving performance in manufacturing.

Over the last 35 years, I’ve seen manufacturing from all layers – from every part of the ecosystem from inside the manufacturer, and then every layer of supplier. I led Industry 4.0 strategy at EY and Kearney, as well as at AVEVA, Atos, and SAP. I started in manufacturing more than 30 years ago, and then moved into technology, where I started at the shop floor systems level with PLC, SCADA, DCS, working for a small automation system integrator. but has also included roles in Strategic Consulting, IT, OT, Operational Excellence and Industry 4.0.

I’m quite comfortable in continuous batch, discrete, highly complex engineer-to-order like submarines and jet engines, through to regulated industries, and I’m quite comfortable with the different manufacturing types.

Across that journey, I helped manufacturing silos work together more effectively, and built lasting relationships with solution providers.

I have a deep curiosity about how to improve performance in manufacturing. Developing a systematic way of enabling collaboration in manufacturers and solution providers has become my life’s work.

As a consultant, I have had the privilege of working with leading industry brands across all verticals, allowing me to test this system. The bulk of my work is with large manufacturers and high-growth solution providers. Companies where the stakes are high – and problems with performance can mean the difference between success and failure.

My approach is the Quorum Principle. This captures my ideas about improving performance and a methodology for doing it that any manufacturer can follow. It’s gained real momentum among manufacturing leaders, operations, and solution providers.

The Quorum Principle focuses on two areas. The first area captures my ideas about breaking down functional silos in manufacturers, and a methodology for doing it that any manufacturer can follow. The second area is designed to teach a step-by-step way of building collaboration that builds on that internal collaboration, and helps make a clear, compelling case for why providers should work together and with you. It’s gained real momentum among manufacturing leaders, operations, and solution providers.

“Highly recommend for any C-Suite team scaling digital transformation!”
